When the skin is irradiated by ultraviolet rays, melanocytes will release melanin, which can block harmful ultraviolet rays, but when melanin accumulates, it will form pigmentation spots. There are different reasons for the formation of dark spots, and ultraviolet rays can be regarded as the main culprit.
The following pigment spots are common:
Freckles
Definitely the most common color spot. Freckles are small light brown, irregularly shaped spots on the cheeks, nose, eyelids or forehead. The number is usually higher if family members have similar conditions, or if the skin is generally lighter.
Sun spots/sun spots (Lentigo)
is another type of discoloration caused by UV rays. Like freckles, melanin is located in the epidermis, but is darker and larger than freckles. If the surface pigmentation is uneven and there are signs of expansion, it is necessary to find a doctor for examination, because it may be melanoma (Lentigo Maligna), which is similar to sunburn.
Café au lait spot
The English name means Coffee and Milk, that is, the color of coffee with milk (light brown). This is a kind of pigmentation unrelated to ultraviolet rays. It is caused by congenital pigmentation. It has grown at birth, but it may become more obvious, and some are one of the symptoms of congenital genetic diseases such as neurofibromatosis syndrome. The treatment of café au lait spots is difficult, and laser treatment is generally used, but the recurrence rate is very high.
Melasma
It is an intractable stain problem, and it cannot be completely removed in many cases. Hormonal spots are caused by multiple factors, such as aging, drugs, genetics, hormonal influences, ultraviolet light stimulation, etc. Chloasma is larger than freckles and sun spots, and will appear symmetrically on both cheeks. The melanin of melasma can be located in the epidermis or dermis (even in both layers), and in most cases it is located in the deeper dermis, which makes treatment more difficult.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
It is the pigmentation that appears after skin inflammation, usually caused by acne, dermatitis or laser.
Seborrheic Keratosis
Commonly known as age spots, they are often found on the face and are light brown to dark brown, raised and rough plaques on the surface. This has a lot to do with ultraviolet rays and age. Ultraviolet rays accelerate the appearance of lesions on the skin and form skin hyperplasia. Therefore, the characteristic of age spots is that it is not smooth, and it feels bumpy to the touch, and its texture is different from that of normal skin.
If you want to treat it effectively, you should first be diagnosed by a doctor to check what kind of skin problems the pigmentation belongs to. The stains on the epidermis are easier to deal with, and can be effectively improved by external application of drugs or fruit acids. Pigmented spots in the dermis are more difficult to treat and may require prolonged treatment. Sometimes the occurrence of dermal pigmentation is even related to disease, so it is safe to see a doctor for diagnosis. There are many ways to treat spots, common ones include: topical ointment, whitening products, chemical peels, diamond dermabrasion, laser therapy, color light therapy, whitening introduction, etc. According to different skin needs, the doctor will tailor a suitable treatment plan.
Our center has different treatment options for the treatment of pigmentation:
ZO® Peel
The active ingredients in the product can reduce the formation of melanin, or help the loss of melanin. After several weeks to several months of continuous use, the effect will gradually appear. Users should be patient. The effect depends on the ingredients and concentration, and it is very safe.
Chemical Peel treatment
Melanin is deposited in the stratum corneum on the surface, and fruit acid can help remove the old stratum corneum accumulated on the epidermis, accelerate the metabolism of the underlying skin, and thus lighten the pigmentation of the epidermis.
Skin rejuvenation and Depigmentation treatment
The center has laser instruments of different bands such asPicosure Honeycomb Picosecond Laser, Q-switched 532nm, 1064nm, VBeam Perfecta long-wavelength 595nm, Clear & Brilliant Laser, etc. Laser can penetrate deep into the skin, break up the melanin, and then fade away with the metabolism of the skin, so it can effectively treat different types of pigmentation, such as freckles, sun spots, coffee spots, nevus of Ota, etc. Different types of stains have different effects, the effect of shallow spots is faster, and the effect of deep spots is slower.
SilkPeel™ Diamond Microdermabrasion
Using vacuum suction to absorb the skin under the diamond head, with different suction and speed of the drill, the old stratum corneum of the epidermis is worn away, so that the skin can absorb various whitening ingredients and reduce dark spots.
