In daily life, many people encounter skin issues, and the recurrence of Demodex mites can be particularly troubling.

Demodex mites often accompany sensations of dry and rough skin. Although some individuals believe they have oily skin, this could actually be due to skin sensitivity and dryness, resulting in an oily sheen. In this regard, beauty experts sometimes recommend increasing the use of moisturizing products, but this approach may not be suitable for everyone.

One patient recalled that after using moisturizing products, there was initially some improvement, but over time, the problem worsened. During this period, she also tried other treatment products, such as anti-acne lotions and gels, but the effects were not significant. The doctor pointed out that this patient continued to suffer from Demodex mites, which were compounded by some pimples and blemishes, and therefore should be addressed.

This patient mentioned that she had previously undergone treatment with retinoids but had to stop due to the worsening of her skin condition. The doctor advised that topical medications could be considered for a thorough treatment to control the proliferation of Demodex mites, and later medications should be used regularly to prevent recurrence.

Demodex mites become active with the secretion of skin oils; therefore, individuals with poorer metabolism are more susceptible to such skin problems. Even if they have previously been treated, with changes in seasons, these mites can return. The doctor emphasized that when abnormalities in skin texture are felt, it’s essential to seek professional medical assistance as soon as possible for prompt improvement.

In addition to medication, maintaining a daily skincare routine is also crucial. Using retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids, and salicylic acid products are effective choices that can provide long-term improvements in skin condition. Moisturizers will not trigger Demodex mites but should be used consistently to maintain skin health.

Importantly, treatment is not an instantaneous process. While temporary breaks are possible, continuous skincare is essential. Over time, the number and condition of acne are expected to improve, but this may become a lifelong skincare task. Therefore, even in the face of rosacea coexisting with acne, proactive treatment for both conditions should be undertaken.
