Facial Shape Classification (1)

Facial shape is a crucial aspect of one’s appearance and has a significant impact on the makeup, hairstyle, eyebrow shaping, and other beauty techniques used to enhance one’s look. Understanding one’s facial shape is an essential first step in determining which beauty techniques will work best for them.

To determine your facial shape, you’ll need a mirror, good lighting, a measuring tape, and a pen and paper to record your measurements. It’s best to use a large mirror in a well-lit room to ensure you can clearly see all parts of your face.

To measure the width of your cheeks, place the end of the measuring tape at the outer corner of your eye, which is your starting point. Then, carefully place the tape along the straight line that passes through the bridge of your nose until it reaches the outer corner of your other eye. The tape should be placed on the top of your “apple cheeks” (i.e., just above your cheekbones). Record the measurement you read on the tape.

To measure your chin line, identify the widest part of your chin while looking in the mirror. Typically, this is about an inch below the bottom of your ear. This is your starting point. Measure from this point to the tip of your chin. Then, simply multiply this number by 2 to get the combined length of both sides of your jawline. Record this number.

To measure the width of your forehead, look in the mirror and identify the widest part of your forehead, which is usually the area between your eyebrows and your hairline. Place the starting point of the tape on one side of your forehead at its widest point. Run the tape horizontally across your forehead until you reach the opposite side. Record the measurement you read on the tape.

Finally, to measure the length of your face, find the midpoint of your hairline (where your hair intersects with your forehead) and the tip of your chin. Measure and record this number.

Now that you have your measurements, you can use them to determine your facial shape. There are seven facial shape categories: oblong, heart, square, oval, round, triangle, and diamond.

Knowing your facial shape is essential because different shapes require different beauty techniques to enhance them. For example, those with heart-shaped faces tend to benefit from makeup techniques that focus on the eyes and eyebrows. Those with square faces may want to use hairstyles that soften their sharp jawlines, while those with oval faces can try a variety of hairstyles and makeup techniques. Understanding your facial shape will help you choose the right beauty techniques to enhance your natural features and create a more attractive appearance.
